There are people out there who truly believe in the idea of “Love at First Sight.”
I am one of them.
You see, I met Mai (my lovely wife) by pure coincidence one fateful night in college. It was my friend’s 21st birthday and a large group of us celebrated this milestone at the karaoke bar where Mai was working part time.
Being unwise 21 year olds ourselves, we all drank way too much and I ended up passed out at some point across some chairs at my table. Long story short, my friends didn’t see me laying there and ended up leaving at the end of the night without me.
The point that I regained consciousness was when Mai had the enviable job of waking me up at closing time to kick me out of the bar.
To this day, I tell people with pride about how Mai took one look at my drunken body sprawled out in that bar and said to herself, “THAT’s the one! That’s who I’m going to marry!!”
…and there you have it. Love at First Sight.
Isn’t love such a beautiful thing? I’m sure Mai’s version of how it went down may be slightly different… you know, with how memory gets fuzzy over time… but this is my story, and I’m sticking with it.
All joking aside, I couldn’t imagine living without my better half. She is the light of my life, and I love her with all my heart.
